On Thursday, 19th May, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge attended the star-studded UK premiere of Top Gun: Maverick in Leicester Square, joining the cast, including Tom Cruise, at this eagerly awaited Royal Film Performance. As proud industry partners of The Film & TV Charity, we were thrilled to be a key sponsor of the event, contributing to the evening’s programme and having the privilege to attend alongside other influential figures in film.
The Royal Film Performance is the charity’s largest fundraising event of the year, providing a remarkable platform to highlight the essential work they do for those in the industry. Established in 1946, this event has a long history of royal support, with the Queen first attending for the screening of A Matter Of Life And Death, starring David Niven.
The premiere transformed Leicester Square into an unforgettable scene, featuring a Eurofighter Typhoon from the Royal Air Force. Cruise and producer Jerry Bruckheimer introduced the Cambridges to the film’s actors, who stood against a striking backdrop. The cast included Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Greg Tarzan Davis, Glen Powell, Jay Ellis, Danny Ramirez, and Lewis Pullman.
Top Gun: Maverick opens in the UK and Ireland on May 27. To learn more about The Film & TV Charity’s impactful work, please visit their website. We’re honored to support this important organisation and their invaluable mission.
