NMRN – Portsmouth Historic Dockyard Commercial
The production team at DMS recently produced a broadcast commercial for Portsmouth Historic Dockyard (PHD). This is the latest project the team have collaborated on with the National Museum of the Royal Navy (NMRN), having created an commercial back in 2016 with our friends at AKA North.
The brief this time around was to create a commercial centered on memorable moments with loved ones. A number of concepts were presented to the NMRM team, and the winning idea focused on a child’s imagination and their dream of being a Pirate on the high seas, but most importantly, sharing these moments with her busy working dad.
Within a few short weeks, the team turned around the creative from pre-production, covering script creation, storyboard, cast, locations and props, working across two days of shooting on location – one day at PHD and another at a London location. We then went straight into post production, and clearing the creative via Clearcast, the CAA and BBFC for distribution across broadcast, cinema and online platforms, with the media as booked by AKA North.
The project was turned around in little over a month, and was launched in early July to support PHD’s summer campaign and their current Horrible Histories exhibition.
